That’s a wrap!

The World Gourmet Symposium brought together leaders and innovators in the food and beverage industry from around the world, focussing on a day of ideas, discussions and thought-leadership at Mandoon Estate in the beautiful Swan Valley.

After months of preparation and carefully curating a program of hot topics in the industry, the day kicked off with new Masterchef judge and 3-hat winner, Jock Zonfrillo with Elder Bruno Dann discussing the origins of Australian cuisine and the importance of looking after our land, our food source. We heard from Selassiee Atadika from Midunu in Ghana, Ivan Brehm from Nouri in Singapore speaking on flavours, culture and the role of food in our community. Catherine Rex from Google shared the latest trends about what our customers are eating and how they’re finding it. A name many hadn’t heard from the Symposium, Syed Asim Hussain, co-founder of Black Sheep Restaurants (Hong Kong) had the room in smiles and laughter as he inspired the audience with his stories from being in restaurant business since 12 years of age.


The star of the show, undoubtedly David Chang, founder of the world-famous Momofuku, shared his thoughts on where the restaurant industry is headed – you could have heard a pin drop with such a respected industry superstar offering the chance for so many to get up close and personal.
